Best Venture Investment

The award is open to any company that received seed, start-up and early-stage backing from a VC fund, a VCT, or a business angel syndicate/network – and subsequently created a strong return on that investment through a full or partial exit in 2010/2011.

Main submission

The judges will be looking particularly for evidence of growth, innovation and value creation over the past two years. Please submit your 1,000-word citation according to these specific criteria:

  1. Description of initial deal structure, describing the company and the investors involved.

  2. The reasons, scale and nature of the exit/partial exit that crystallised value for the investors

  3. Evidence of the investors' role in supporting the growth of the company and adding value during the period of its investment.

  4. The disruptive or innovative nature of the product/service and its long-term business potential

  5. The sales performance and growth in jobs created by the company during the investment period.

In 100 words, please also describe the unique, distinguishing characteristics that make this the Best Venture Investment.

Supporting evidence

You will also be asked to supply your three most recent sets of audited accounts, as well as any relevant supporting information (press coverage, marketing materials, customer testimonials etc).

*Please note: Entering this category requires shortlisted candidates to attend an interview with the judging panel in London during October, 2011.
