International Business of the Year

Won in 2010 by the Premier League, this award recognises UK companies expanding, or launching, non-UK operations - and growing - non-UK revenues. Let's celebrate the companies helping to rebalance the UK economy!

Main submission

The judges will be looking particularly for effective and innovative individual international initiatives undertaken in the past two years. (This is not an award for overall international performance.) Please submit your 1,000-word citation according to these specific criteria:

  1. Specific international initiative undertaken and strategy/thinking behind it

  2. Target market/s for recent overseas launch/expansion; and reasons for selecting them. Please highlight any third-party research, advice and assistance used to support the expansion plans

  3. Major hurdles/barriers facing the company in this launch/expansion, and how they were overcome. Please specify, if relevant, particularly challenging markets targeted

  4. Evidence of innovation in international strategy – ie, use of technology; international staffing strategy; working with partners etc

  5. Evidence of positive sales,market share performance and positive customer feedback

  6. Impact of the launch/expansion on the company's overall performance

You will also be asked to supply your three most recent sets of audited accounts, as well as any relevant supporting information (press coverage, marketing materials, customer testimonials etc).

*Please note: Entering this category requires shortlisted candidates to attend an interview with the judging panel in London during October, 2011.
